The legacy of John Fisher

Help ICOR honor a great friend and investor

As many of you know, ICOR lost a dear friend, mentor and supporter this past fall. John Fisher was a wonderful man who dedicated his life to helping others. In honor of that memory ICOR has decided to host an Investor Auction at the December monthly meetings. All proceeds earned during the event will go to support organizations that John believed in.

John’s Legacy is a fund established in memory of John Fisher’s life objective to make a difference in the lives of others.

John’s wife, Lauren has raised over $3,000.00 in the last 2 months since John’s death.  Lauren, ICOR and the Invest Success team are committed to continuing to grow this Legacy Fund.

Currently the money will be divided between the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC), specifically to their Colorado Lung Cancer Research division, based at Anchutz, and the Swallow Hill Music School.

Here is more information about the 2 groups:

IASLC

The International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC) is the only global organization dedicated to the study of lung cancer. Founded in 1974, the association's membership includes nearly 4,000 lung cancer specialists in 80 countries.

IASLC members work to enhance the understanding of lung cancer among scientists, members of the medical community and the public. IASLC publishes the Journal of Thoracic Oncology, a valuable resource for medical specialists and scientists who focus on the detection, prevention, diagnosis and treatment of lung cancer.

The IASLC mission is:

  • to embrace the study of the etiology, epidemiology, prevention, diagnosis, treatment and all other aspects of lung cancer and other thoracic malignancies
  • to provide education and information about lung cancer and other thoracic malignancies to IASLC members, to the medical community at large, and to the public
  • to use all available means to eliminate lung cancer and other thoracic malignancies as a health threat for the individual patient and throughout the world

Swallow Hill Music

Founded in 1979, Swallow Hill Music is a nonprofit community in Denver for musicians and music lovers. The organization brings people together through its schools, outreach programming and concerts, and is a home for individuals and families who want to learn about, listen to and perform music. Each year Swallow Hill Music connects more than 138,000 people to diverse music traditions on stage and in the classroom.

Please help us support these causes so near and dear to John’s heart – the money stays here in Denver, yet helps research that reaches people internationally.

***(2/3 of the monies raised will go to IASLC and 1/3 of the monies raised will go to Swallow Hill scholarship fund.)
