Troy Miller has been in this industry indirectly all of his life, growing up with a father who was a general contractor and a mother who was a property manager. In 2007, Troy came to the real estate investing industry and started working for the National Real Estate Investors Association continuing his career in meetings & education. His primary task began with helping REIA leaders around the country rethink the way they offered information and content to participants with varied learning styles in their respective classrooms. He has advised, developed, and presented education to the Arizona Real Estate Investors Association, CCIM Chapter of Kentucky, Kentucky Real Estate Exchangors, Greater Cincinnati Northern Kentucky Apartment Association, Greater Cincinnati REIA, Diversified Investors Group | Philadelphia, Kentuckiana REIA, & Greater Dayton REIA,
After a small hiatus, Troy returns to his role as Executive Director of the Investment Community of the Rockies | Colorado’s REIA. The founders of ICOR, Mike Vogel, Greg Vogel, and Dave Lund, impressed upon him the unique way to learn. Taking a page from one of the country's principal thought leaders, philosophers, and inventors, Benjamin Franklin, who said, “Tell me, and I forget. Teach me, and I remember. Involve me, and I learn.”
Troy’s primary way for every investor to become a master or outlier is to “LEARN-DO-TEACH.”
1. Learn the "skill"
2. Practice mastering the "skill"
3. In return, teach those around or below you for mastery.
His greatest accomplishment is seeing members grow and succeed. So, he began asking himself, "How can we change the classroom so that the focus isn’t on the transfer of information but the practice and application of information"…”THE HOW.” So flipping the script from learning the theory behind the skillset to now practicing the skillset, and ultimately adding the ability to DO THIS ON YOUR OWN or what has been coined as “experiential learning!” This helps differentiate all learning opportunities presented by ICOR from "the rest", prepares, and makes a better community of investors in Colorado and beyond.
